Privacy Policy
Last updated 28 August 2026. Covers this website and the Jyn service.
This policy says what Jyn reads from your accounts, what it keeps, how long it keeps it, and how you get it deleted. It is written from the rules the software is actually built to follow, so it is specific rather than general.
This website collects nothing
jyn.gg sets no cookies, runs no analytics, loads no script, and loads no font or image from anyone else's server. There is no form on it. Reading this page tells us nothing about you beyond what any web server unavoidably sees while sending it (your IP address and browser, in a short-lived server log). Everything below is about the Jyn service — the product you sign into.
What we collect about you
- Your account: your email address, your passkey's public credential (there is no password, and we never hold anything that could sign in as you), your recovery codes in hashed form, your confirmation that you are 18 or older, and the choices you make — your rules, your channel's mode, who you added as a reviewer.
- What Jyn did: every decision it made, what it was looking at when it made it, what you approved or declined, what it posted, and what it verified afterwards. This is the record you can read in the app, and it is deliberately complete rather than summarised.
What we access from Twitch
When you connect Twitch, Jyn asks for three permissions and no others:
read chat (user:read:chat),
read your subscribers (channel:read:subscriptions),
and read cheers (bits:read). Jyn does not ask to
send messages, moderate, change your channel, or read anyone else's channel. If
you grant only part of what it asked for, it refuses the connection rather than
running half-blind.
With those permissions Jyn receives, and stores:
- Your stream sessions — when a stream went live and when it ended, and Twitch's id for it.
- Chat messages — the message text, the Twitch user id, login and display name of whoever sent it, their badges, whether it was a reply, any bits attached, and the times it was sent and received.
- Community events — subscriptions, gifted subs, resubscription messages, cheers, and raids, with the Twitch id of the person involved and the size of the event (tier, amount, viewer count).
- Moderation events — when a message is deleted or chat is cleared, so that Jyn can act on it (see below).
- Marks — moments you or your reviewer flagged, with a note.
- The original signed notification from Twitch that carried each of the above, kept as received so the record can be checked against its source.
This includes your viewers' data, and we treat it as theirs, not yours. It is used to find moments worth clipping and to understand your channel — never sold, never used to build a profile of a viewer across channels, and never allowed to travel from your private records into anything public just because a model or a reviewer could see it.
When Twitch says something is gone, it is gone here too. A deleted message or a cleared chat opens an obligation Jyn must discharge before it accepts new activity: the message text is removed, anything it fed is withdrawn from what Jyn can retrieve or reason over, and a marker is left in its place so a replay or a restore cannot resurrect it.
What we access from YouTube
Jyn uses YouTube API Services. When you connect YouTube it asks for exactly two permissions:
| Permission | What Jyn does with it |
|---|---|
youtube.upload |
Upload the clip you approved to your channel, privately. |
youtube.force-ssl |
Read back the video it just uploaded to confirm it is really there, make it public at the agreed time, read its view/like/comment counts, make it private again if you take it down, and delete it for good if you ask. |
It does not ask for a permission to read your other videos, your playlists, your audience, or your revenue. It never uploads anything but the exact clip you saw: the title, description, and tags are checked against the ones on the version you approved, and the upload is refused if they do not match.
From YouTube, Jyn stores:
- Your channel's YouTube id and its name, so the app can show you which channel is connected.
- For each video Jyn uploaded for you: its YouTube video id, its upload, processing and privacy status, its length and dimensions, its file size, and when it was published — the facts Jyn checks to prove the upload really worked.
- Its performance: view, like and comment counts, read once about 24 hours after publication and once about seven days after. Counts Jyn's permissions do not cover — shares, average view duration, subscriber change — are recorded as unavailable rather than guessed or shown as zero.
- Your authorization — see "Your connected accounts' keys" below.
How long we keep YouTube data, and how you get rid of it
- While you are connected, the channel and video facts above are kept current — refreshed from YouTube rather than allowed to go stale — because Jyn needs them to operate and verify your posts.
- If you disconnect YouTube in Jyn, we revoke the authorization with Google immediately and delete the YouTube data we hold within 7 days.
- If you revoke Jyn's access at Google instead, we delete the YouTube data we hold within 30 days of that revocation.
- Performance counts (views, likes, comments) may be kept beyond those windows as historical statistics about your own channel, which is what they are; you can have them deleted with the rest of your data at any time.
You can revoke Jyn's access to your Google account at any time at https://security.google.com/settings/security/permissions.
Jyn's use of information received from YouTube APIs follows the YouTube API Services Terms of Service. By using Jyn you also agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service. Google's own handling of your information is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
Your video, and what leaves your computer
Your full recording never reaches us. The Companion app on your streaming PC cuts out only the specific moments Jyn asked about and uploads only those. It cannot post anything, holds no keys to your accounts, and runs no AI. It shows you a list of exactly what left the machine.
From those windows Jyn makes the clip, a poster image, and a transcript of what was said, and stores them encrypted. Windows nothing ends up using are deleted — on our side and on your machine, which the Companion confirms back. A clip you decline is disposed of; a clip you posted and then took down goes with the takedown.
Your connected accounts' keys
The tokens that let Jyn act on Twitch and YouTube are encrypted before they are stored, and the encryption is tied to your account specifically — the same ciphertext moved to another customer's record cannot be opened at all. They are never written into logs, exports, prompts, or the record you read in the app, and no AI is ever given one. Only the small piece of code that makes the actual call to Twitch or YouTube can use them, and only for the length of that call.
When you disconnect, we tell the provider to revoke the token straight away and delete our stored copy once they confirm. Your own controls do not wait on the provider: Jyn stops using the account the moment you disconnect it, even if the provider is unreachable.
AI providers
Jyn uses third-party AI models to judge clips. What goes to a model is decided per call and recorded exactly, so we can always tell you what was sent. Before anything leaves, it is minimised and checked against what your channel's rules allow. Material that exposes contact details, addresses, payments, private messages, or someone's health, financial, legal or sexual information is refused rather than sent, and anything you or a reviewer marked private stays private — a model having read something never makes it publishable.
We use providers in no-training, no-retention mode wherever it is offered. Where a provider does retain something, that is recorded and disclosed rather than assumed away.
Who can see your data
Not us, by default. Nobody at Jyn has standing access to your clips, your chat, your decisions, or your record. Support access is a specific, time-limited, purpose-bound grant to one account, and it expires. Emergency access during an incident is a separate path that is tied to that incident, capped at an hour, logged as it is issued and as it ends, and reviewed by a person afterwards.
Your data is separated from every other customer's at every layer — records, search indexes, caches, work queues, backups, model requests, and keys. Another customer's account cannot reach yours, and neither can a general company view: the only company-wide numbers that exist are aggregates that name no customer and no clip.
We do not sell your data, and we do not give it to anyone to train their models on. Jyn learns from your channel to serve your channel. Using your material to improve the product generally is a separate permission with its own switch in your Account settings; turning it off stops new use immediately and removes your material from pending improvement work within 30 days, without touching what Jyn has learned about your own channel.
How long we keep things
The honest short answer: your channel's history stays while your account is active, because it is what makes Jyn better at your channel, and it goes when you ask.
- Your history — chat, moments, clips, decisions, and the record of what the AI did — is kept while your account is active or you have archived it. Cancelling a subscription archives your account; it does not erase it.
- Chat and event text is cleared within 30 days, after which the message identity and lineage remain but the words are gone.
- Unused video — windows and clips nothing used — is deleted within 24 hours.
- Sign-in and security records are kept for two years. Support conversations are kept for two years after they close. Billing and tax records are kept for seven years, or the period the law requires.
- Backups roll on a 35-day cycle.
- An inactive account is proposed for deletion after three years, with notice 90, 30 and 7 days beforehand and the chance to keep or export it first.
Deleting your data
When you ask us to erase your data:
- we stop processing and cut off access immediately;
- it stops being findable — search, indexes and caches — within 7 days;
- the stored records and files are deleted, and deletion instructions are sent to the platforms holding your posts, within 30 days;
- it ages out of backups within 35 days.
The app shows you where that stands, and it tells the truth about the difference: it says deletion has been submitted until every instruction has been observed to have taken effect, and only then says verified. The narrow exceptions are records the law requires us to keep for a stated period, and markers that hold the place of deleted data so a backup restore cannot bring it back.
Taking down a post works the same way. Jyn removes it, then independently checks it is really gone — both that the platform says so and that the public address no longer works — and reports "removed, confirmed gone" only when both are true. A post that is merely private is never reported as deleted.
Your choices
- Disconnect any account, at any time, from Connections.
- Pause everything — one control, stops all posting immediately.
- Export your data, or delete your account.
- Correct something recorded about you that is wrong; the correction supersedes the old version and the old version leaves what Jyn reasons over.
- Turn off product-improvement use of your material, in Account settings.
If you are a viewer, not a streamer, and your messages are in a channel that uses Jyn: deleting your message on Twitch removes it here too. For anything else, write to privacy@jyn.gg and say which channel and roughly when.
If you cannot sign in — you lost your passkey, you have left a team, or the account whose data this is belongs to you rather than to the streamer — write to privacy@jyn.gg. We will not export or delete anything on the strength of an email. A person here checks that you are who you say you are first, and the check is something you can already do: signing in with another passkey you still have, showing you control the connected account the data is about, or answering a message we send to the address the account was registered with. Where none of those is possible we will ask for an identity document certified by someone accountable, and that is the last resort rather than the first ask. We do not keep the document, or your identification, in Jyn. What Jyn records is that the check happened, which method was used, and what was decided. If we cannot establish who you are, we say no and record that too — because getting this wrong means erasing or handing over somebody else’s account. Once the check passes, your request becomes exactly the export or deletion you would have started yourself, on the same timetable described above.
If a court or a regulator demands your records, the first thing we do is stop the clock: a legal hold pauses any deletion so nothing disappears while the demand is being read. Then a person here reads it and writes down what they decided. Often the answer is that we will not act on it — Jyn is not yet a registered company with lawyers of record, and we say so rather than quietly handing anything over. If we are compelled and we do produce something, it is bounded before it is assembled: named kinds of record about your account, over a named stretch of time, and never the chat and community messages from your stream, because those are about other people who cannot be told. And we tell you. Within 72 hours of producing anything we write to you saying what kind of demand it was, what it covered and when — unless the order itself forbids us to tell you, in which case we record that, record the date we have to look at it again, and tell you as soon as we are allowed to.
Where your data is
Jyn is operated from Colorado, United States, by its founder doing business as Jyn, and data is stored in the United States. When Jyn becomes a registered company, this page will name it and its registered address.
Children
Jyn is for adults. You confirm you are 18 or older when you sign up, and we do not knowingly hold data from a child who is not old enough to be on the platforms Jyn connects to.
Changes
When this policy changes in a way that matters, we tell you in the app and date the change at the top of this page.
